Welcome to the forum!

While technically you can, its not really worth crossfiring such a low end card. You'll be better off upgrading to a GTX 660ti, or 760 then SLIing that in the future

My PC:

4670k      GTX 760 ACX      CoolerMaster Hyper 412s      Fractal Design Node 804      G1 Sniper M5      Corsair RM 650      WD Red 1TB     Samsung 840 Evo 120GB

they always say one better card is better than 2 lower end cards, buy a higher end card first then SLI/crossfire that in the future as games get more intense

:D

hope this helps

Right now I am on a very tight budget and would like to save money in anyway possible while still getting some more performance.  Would it be worth spending another $200 dollars on a new R9 270 or getting another 260X?  If I were to buy the 260X I could get it sooner, but the R9 270 would take a while to get the few extra bucks.  I have done my homework and a R9 and crossfired 260X's  perform exactly the same on paper, so I guess the question I have now is would it be worth spending $200 on the R9 or the $100 on another 260X and crossfiring since I already have one.  Also I had only recently gotten my computer and would not like to replace parts so soon.

Save up more for a more powerful upgrade later? The 270 isn't that good of an upgrade imo and a 260x cf isn't exactly optimal.

After a bit more looking around I saw the gtx 760 and the Radeon 7950.  Which of these cards are better?

The 7950 is a bit better.
