Unifi Door Access

Im looking/at getting my church to install a door access control system. We already have an Unifi network and VoIP, so we are looking at going Unifi access with lte readers. It has good reviews but the issue Im trying to solve is one of the doors doesn't have much of an overhang. I know I can put a rain cover over it to solve the issue. But I'm still concerned about the rain and snow killing the reader. Does anyone have any advice or better solutions to this problem?
