But will I notice a difference as far as gaming with my Rogers router? I'm currently using a CAT6 50ft ethernet cable and it runs fine.

So I'm debating weather to get Cat5e 100ft in two days with Amazon Prime or Cat6 75ft from a retailer on Amazon in 7-11 days. Is ethernet cable speed dependent on your router? How does this work, thanks in advance for any help you guys can give me.

this video is about rj45 but may help u in case of speeds... :)

no you wont. 1Gb is more than any connection you can get to your isp, so CAT5e is plenty for that, but if you have a nas, its nice to know you can upgrade to 10Gb without too much hassle later

Obviously the NAS itself needs to support 10GB ethernet too, which most don't without installing a dedicated card if it's a proper PC, or being really really expensive if it's a prebuilt small one.

^ This

However, cat5e can still do 10Gb/s for up to around 55m (Ideally keeping it a little shorter as it may not be exactly 55m - it depends on several environmental/interference factors as well).
