I currently have a CoolerMaster ML240 V2 RGB on my r7 5700x. However, most games I play benefit greatly from the 5800X3D's cache, so I'm considering buying one. However, im not sure if my cooler can withstand the temps of the 5800X3D, since it's obviously a bit higher tier than the 5700x.

It's probably fine, if it ever gets too hot you can always do some adjustments and buy better cooler later.

Ye should be fine since the core amount didn’t increase and the clocks are actually slightly lower (but still an amazing gaming cpu) it should be good

launch prime 95 stress test, check temps right now with the 5700x, if lower than 80 degrees, you should be fine with the 5800x3d

I’ll do that today. However I think I’ll just buy it and take the risk, since I have never seen my 5700x go above 55-60 while gaming

  • 1 month later...

Make sure to set negative value in BIOS Curve Optimizer. In my case, 5800X3D can handle -30 but may vary from chip to chip. It runs significantly cooler and it'll just run at max speed locked. Without changing the curve, it'll fluctuate a lot more and run hotter. It's free performance and power saving.
