Nvidia control panel not detecting resizeable BAR

Grey8405

I have risizeable BAR and 4gb+ speed enabled in my motherboard bios, and the latest driver for my 3070, but nvidia control panel detects my resizeable bar to be off. Any solutions?

GPU: MSI GAMING X TRIO GeForce RTX 3070

Motherboard: ASROCK B550M/ac

Two things to check:

  1. CSM is disabled in BIOS. It's required to be off for Rebar to work and IIRC ASRock's BIOS let's you enable Rebar without disabling CSM.
  2. Double check that you've got a new enough VBIOS that supports Rebar. Not all do, especially if you got an early release card.

Granted, I wouldn't look much further into it than that. It offers such little performance gains on Nvidia (3-5% at the absolute most) that just isn't worth spending more than 20 minutes trouble shooting.

When I had a 3090 and ResizableBAR released, I had the same issue. Everything was set corrently in the BIOS but still the Nvidia control panel did not say ResizableBAR was enabled.

The fix for me was to update the newly released - at that time - vBIOS made for ResizableBAR. And I had to update both vBIOS' on the card, the Quiet and Performance vBIOS.

Since you have a 3070, you may have the same issue. Maybe you simply just need a vBIOS update.

I have an MSI 3070, and on their site, under utilities, the only thing there is MSI Center, and in MSI center there isnt an I can find to update my VBIOS. Any other way to get the VBIOS update for my gpu?

Ah yeah, I see...

The OP could check Techpowerup, I think they still maintain an archive of vBIOS for most of the later Nvidia cards, just need to check the correct version against existing vBIOS using GPU-Z or similar.
