So its been a hot minute since I got an sata SSD, the last one was an 850 Evo in 2014/5 when 250 gb was alot 馃槄

I still have that SSD but I want a 1tb to replace the hard drive that is approaching 5+ years, maybe its because since then reviews are more popular but I notice a decent amount of negative reviews against the 870.

Currently from Amazon the price of the 870 is much better than the 850 or 860 so I unsure if there is any underlying issues here

Never had trouble with a Samsung SSD, 850 in my laptop passed onto my parents still going strong, on my main pc a 970 evo 250gb and 970 evo plus 500 gb and no troubles yet聽

Its also suspicious that the EVO is cheaper than QVO as well, so It makes me wonder

So is the 870 Evo okay?

Yep, it's a great replacement for the HDD>聽 Any of them are, and there may be ones that are even cheaper.聽

Fair enough, Just wondering. Its seems to be quite popular as well so maybe that's why some bad reviews are more apparent than other products.

Thanks though. 60 bucks for 1tb is still wild remembering how expensive it used to be 馃槄

People can give it 1 star of 5, and it's STILL better than your HDD 馃檪

The 850/860 are good, but they're not $122 for 1TB good.聽 Even a 990 Pro 1TB is $100.聽 $60 for a1TB is market right now, look at other SATA SSD's to compare.

The 850 Evo ships/sold from Memory Warehouse, a bullshit reseller marking things up...

Any specific why you cant use an m.2 2280 SSD in this context? NvME SSDs are really dumb cheap nowadays and you can get a 2TB MP600 Pro for $130. Or if you are limited in height, you can also get 970 EVO for the same price. NV2 by Kingston exists for 30$ less but it is a basic DRAMless SSD that has teething issues that makes it not worth it IMO.

just space limited, only have one sata port open, and my hard drive is old so figured an ssd would be alright. I have two m.2 slots are filled with 970s

Noted. While i wouldnt go for the extreme (unless you just need a bulk storage in which case go for the rock bottom like @Somerandomtechyboi聽says, just make sure that theyre not hard to RMA if they suddenly dies) and get budget DRAMless SSD, spending the premium is kinda absurd when Crucial still make the venerable MX500 for like 70-80$ range for 1TB.

Probably going to get it from Micro center, so far the 1 TB 870 evo for $60 doesn't seem too bad
