Realistically speaking, theres always going to be "bad apple" cases. Rationally looking, you pay way more for less with Nvidia than with AMD. And are more likely to upgrade aka waste money for features in the next generation with Nvidia. Im not saying Nvidia does bad stuff, just apples to oranges. AMD has proven to be more than meets the eye

yeah ive decided that ill go with the 7900xtx and just brute force my way through any of the issues i may have

Budget (including currency): $1000

Country: america

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: cs, minecraft, fortnite, modernwarfare, mordhau, warthunder

Other details i already own all parts but a gpu i have a 7900x and am looking into either a 4070 ti or 7900xtx i found the 7900xtx for 960 and the 4070ti is 850 is the extra performance from the 7900 worth the extra money

Performance wise the 7900XTX is more on par with the 4080 than the 4070Ti, and even a bit faster

So go for it unless you need NVidia stuff, like RT performance and DLSS

would dlss make the gap between the 2 cards close as much as nvidia advertisement makes it seem i have a 3070m laptop and dont notice much difference but using a laptop is one of the most painful things ive done tech wise the last 2 years

Dlss is not there for all games. So in some games it will help a good bit and in others it won't help at all if it's not there. It also depends on how well implemented it is.

So really it's up to you to decide if dlss is worth it for you are not to get a overall slower card.

Well that card is the one that competes (overall slightly beats) the 4070ti. Basically that one and the 6950xt cover that performance bracket. The 7900xtx is the 4080 competitor.

yeah while doing research i was originally looking into the 4070 ti or the xt but i have a limit of 1000 so i figured i might as well go all out, would you suggest going with the xt and saving the extra money?

DLSS (and FSR) is kinda "trick" to make higher res gaming using lower res rendering, according to reviews it looks fine now if you use "quality" settings

Not good for FPS titles tho

I'm still not sold with it, why not just getting better rendering performance ? 🙂

Honestly I'd recommend the 600$-650$ 6950xt. It's very close, is A LOT cheaper AND saves you a good bit of money meaning you can replace it in another 3-4 years for another near top tier card that will be a lot better than if you get a much more expensive card thats 360$ more for at max 20% more performance.

i see that you have a xtx on average across most games how much power and vram do you use

am i still able to get one new? due to parents not trusting second hand technology they dont want me to get a used card even if it saves hundreds of dollars.

Yes they are readily available. Think it's the xfx one which is the lowest priced. Think newegg is the one with the cheap ones.

Have a 7900XTX Nitro+ on a 4K60 monitor. Main idea behind choice was the R9 390 8GB I had for 7 years. I expect at least 5 years of service and future proofing. Drivers are not that great now, but you get massive amounts of raw grunt for practically anything that comes down the line relative to the price. You get essentially an under developed 4090 for half the price.

Only reason why Nvidia has relative good performance: they have bullied the industry into optimizing drivers to their ecosystem with the 70+% market share. If AMD had the same game optimization and driver support, you would see 7900XTX on par or trailing behind in the 2-5% with 4090

this was one concern i have because i have a 3070m and the drivers are garbage on it, it constantly crashes games, ive had it checked at micro center and they found no issues with the actual gpu and they thought it was either asus or nvidia issues. so if nvidias broken drivers are considered great i was worried about the supposed broken drivers from amd

Main issue with AMD drivers is the dreaded "green screen of death". Which has been tracked down to a preliminary conflict with Windows MPO (Multi-Plane Overlay). Personally, ive seen video media encoding issues in Firefox, but since february they have been steadily disappearing. In games, only seen minor bugs but nothing game crashing as of yet. Can say that out of the selection you are playing, I havent encountered any game breaking issues with CS:GO, Minecraft, War Thunder. War Thunder gave me an issue where upon exiting the game, the FPS was at 30-40 (could see the low fps from the cursor motion). Restarting PC fixes it most of the time. Is an annoyance, but things I can live with

I hope you get a good card. I would suggest doing some preliminary research on the card you are planning on so you know what to look or hear out for when issues pop up right out of the box. XFX cards are being reported having frequent coil whine issues for example.
