Bottleneck?

Both my gpu and cpu run at 60% yet I'm not getting the fps that is set for vsync. What might be the problem? (Ryzen 7 1700x and rx 6800xt w 32 gb ram)

Severe CPU bottleneck.

A bit more info is required.

 

Also you need to check the cpu per core useage as not all game will use all of the threads on a cpu as they weren't coded for it. If one core is at 100% then that tells you where the issue lies.

That's kind of what I assumed thanks for confirming it. (I didn't want to buy a new cpu for no reason)

It happens in a lot of different games (no man's sky, Apex legends, sons of the forest, etc.) I'll check the cores later today.

If you see a weird thing like 2 cores pinned to 50% for some reason that is just a weird windows thing where it puts half of the workload on 2 threads. It's a task manager bug but it sometimes still shows.

With a cheap Ryzen 5 5600 or a Ryzen 7 5700X that system would  start to breathe. Especially if on 1440p or 4k.

On 1080p even a 5800X3D might bottleneck that GPU a bit and that's the strongest AM4 gaming CPU.

Aight a couple cores were definitely locked at 100%, now I have a reason to buy a new cpu. Thanks for the help.

I think I'm going to get a ryzen 7 5800x as it's on sale for a decent price, thanks for helping

Which motherboard?

 

The 5800X is not for weak motherboard VRM-s. The 5600 and 5700X are.
