so currently i have a laptop set up in my living room to run my project but it seems silly having a £1000 worth of laptop sat there purely to watch films on my projector is there a wireless display or something that i can connect to my desktop (upstairs) that can output the hdmi into the projector? unable to run wires as the projector is in the living room and the pc is in the upstairs office? or if any one else has a better solution were so i can sell the laptop as i no longer need it at all now

That technology never took off...

When you try to transmit video + audio data wirelessly, especially through walls/wood/concrete, there is data loss.

The latency will be high as well.

You'll have frames missing, audio packets missing, video + audio can go in and out sync...

Your best bet would be to stream it over WiFi or something...similar to a Google Chromecast.

Linus did some "wireless HDMI" testing before....

If you have no use for the £1000 laptop I'd sell it and buy a £200 old-ish PC that'll be sufficient as media player. A half decent wireless solution wouldn't really be cheaper and would be a lot more finicky.

Can get some of these hp/lenovo tiny SFFs for about that price.

F@H
Desktop: i9-13900K, ASUS Z790-E, 64GB DDR5-6000 CL36, RTX3080, 2TB MP600 Pro XT, 2TB SX8200Pro, 2x16TB Ironwolf RAID0, Corsair HX1200, Antec Vortex 360 AIO, Thermaltake Versa H25 TG, Samsung 4K curved 49" TV, 23" secondary, Mountain Everest Max

Mobile SFF rig: i9-9900K, Noctua NH-L9i, Asrock Z390 Phantom ITX-AC, 32GB, GTX1070, 2x1TB SX8200Pro RAID0, 2x5TB 2.5" HDD RAID0, Athena 500W Flex (Noctua fan), Custom 4.7l 3D printed case

Asus Zenbook UM325UA, Ryzen 7 5700u, 16GB, 1TB, OLED
