This build was created on my own through research over the past 2 or so weeks. Interested to call my build completed and get it over the summer so that's where anybody willing to help comes in :)

1. Budget & Location

I am willing to spend up to 2300-2500 US dollars but the current list price of 2191.73 Is looking pretty sweet to me.

2. Aim
I wish to play all modern titles at max settings or damn near it, plus I am a fan of emulating my old ps1 and ps2 games etc. I have plans to do some video editing but nothing intensive. On that note I would like to see if this build has the room to expand upon this side of productivity and what the draw backs would be. Gaming > editing to put it that way.

3. Monitors
Just one monitor. The monitor in my build is a 24" but I would much rather have upwards toward 30" 1440p gaming monitor either replacing the 24" entirely or making sure that the build can accommodate 1440p in the future (possibly waiting until prices drop)

4. Peripherals
I am not recycling anything as I have nothing to do so with. I have a mic and headphones so I have not included that in the build but I am curious of headset solutions to create a genuine compliment to the graphics I'm hoping to pump out.

5. Why are you upgrading?
I currently have a Mac desktop. Done with all that.

Thanks in advance for taking the time to provide me with input. Like the title says this is my first build and I am very excited, however I do not want to run into any annoying compatibility issues or the like. Help me out! :)

Also I recomend you shop for peripherals yourself since its all about preference even though the ones I have in there are some solid choices there are others out there that could be better for you. Also keep in mind this is a really high budget for a first system in my opinion, maybe thats me.

Since I wasn't sure what monitor or speakers you would like, I didn't look for those. But for the core system, this will be great.

Hey thanks for the suggestions guys! Ok so here is my questions.

1. All of you have suggested Intel CPU, differing gen/model. I had seen benchmarks of the AMD 8350 and it looked pretty good. However these were just gaming BM's so I wonder if the Intel excels elsewhere?

2. Two of you suggested liquid cooling. I am not opposed to it as long it is in budget, but what is the pro's/con's vs a standard air cooler?

3. Gigabyte motherboards must be a good pick, you all suggested that brand. In some recent research I've found that motherboards don't impact performance as one might expect, so thanks for shaving off some dough on that. Lga1150 is new to me, will research after this reply but if you have any cents to chip in I'd love to hear about it.

4. Any reason for 2400 RAM speed? Is the 11 CAS noticeable or should i balance it at 1600 with CAS of 9?

5. I am happy to see SSD put into the build. I have been considering it but unsure of it. If it fits ill ship.

6. I am happy also with the GPU picks, however I am willing to dole out extra dough for the fatter card. I haven't done as much research on gigabyte branded anything as much as I have others. Familiar with EVGA so far and I like them, but this gives me room to branch off. Thanks for that.

7. The ASUS PB278Q looks phenomenal. Im curious the drawbacks vs the asus 24" i linked at the top. However just from looking at reviews, this looks like an excellent gamer/professional monitor.

8. Also is windows 8 the new standard? A lot of my friends talk smack about it, but having fooled with it some I thought it wasn't all that bad as I could get rid of metro and jump straight to desktop. DL this app that recreated the start menu. Didn't seem to bad really but I was also using Apple Bootcamp to run it which isn't a good representation in the first place. Curious on thoughts vs W7

Thanks guys. You all have given me some new places to look and some great solutions.
