My job is looking to replace our current inventory management software. We are looking for something that can scan both PCs, MACs, and iPads with peripherals all tracked and scanned regularly. We are looking for something that will continue to update the info weekly or if not able to reach the device will be able to notify my team that that device may be having issues. Anybody got some IT inventory management software that has been working well for them.

This just seems like a pretty awful idea, not only would it just not work well (most software does a VERY poor job of saying what exactly is wrong) doing it across Mac, PC, Ipad just seems like way big of an issue. It shouldnt be an issue, if an issue arises, people are often gonna speak about it and youll have to fix it anyway rather then rely on software. Software like this across platforms will break so often causing more of a headache.

Regular checkups will do much better then software, since you pretty much dont have to do much anyway for most of these systems, and if needed to you can always remote in.

Just throwing out there "SnipeIt", nativly it doesn't have exactly what you want but the API is very powerful. There are integrations others (and SnipeIt/the company Grokability) have developed for things like JAMF and AD syncing. You can also customize a powershell script for the windows side of things that can be deployed via gpo.(if you don't know how to write one, there are plenty of examples and ChatGPT is very helpful lol)

Not a direct answer but something to look at! They have paid hosting plans but you can also host it yourself for free. My selling point on it was that if I leave my current place and they can't or don't want to manage it hosted here, they can have it migrated to a paid plan hosted by Grokability or pay for support plans.

I agree it is not the absolute best option but working in higher education many computers that have to be setup for a possible employee or public use may sit unused for many months and having over 5000 pieces of networked equipment across multiple campuses it has helped us know what needs to be looked at. Our current system just hasn't been updated for apple systems in 5 years.

Yeah we use JAMF but it has been neutered since M1's came out and they don't seem to care to try and update to be better.
