Just had the most terrible experience that I ever had with a large retailer in the last week on the above forum...nothing even close. I reached out to the last level of support that I could find with Best Buy tbh. I am "cleardave" in the Best Buy forums if you want to see my experience.

Has anyone else here had the same?

Edit:

Someone else besides me trying to reach out to Best Buy Leadership on their forums...from two years ago:

https://forums.bestbuy.com/t5/Best-Buy-Store-Purchase/A-concerned-long-time-Best-Buy-customer/td-p/1382169

https://forums.bestbuy.com/t5/Best-Buy-Store-Purchase/A-concerned-long-time-Best-Buy-customer/td-p/1382169/page/2

Actually a well thought out post and I can tell they care about Best Buy...like I do! They actually took the time to come out of hibernation and reply to my reply...why would they do that? Literally one post in the last two years...got 0 help...came back because they saw I replied...how can I make this up?

I am sorry if I come-along as being an asshole or anything...but my story is true...others on Best Buy's Support Forums are true as well pretty sure if you take the time to dig...before Best Buy closes these forums on 3/20/2023...just to new post right now...but who knows right???

I have been a customer of Best Buy for almost 30-years now. Since I was 10 years old and was in the store EVERY WEEKDAY. Doing what? ...playing videogames with all the other kids that didn't have a system at home in the early 90s.

In 1994 I was able to convince and drag my mom into the store to get an Acer with all the fixings...told her it was for school but I already had Doom in my mind. Memories of the years following dragging her back to Best Buy to buy more memory for games (boy that was hard to explain without saying the word "game").

Fast-forward to today...NO PROBLEMS AT ALL OVER THE YEARS...100% satisfied with my consistent almost yearly purchases from Best Buy. I am at the point in my life now where I can purchase most electronics (my passion) that I want...just need to justify it to myself LOL

I was totally fine with my $3k speaker purchase tbh...they sound great with my current setup and I love them...just need to be clear that my grip has not much to do with the denial of a refund of $540...I am lucky enough that I can afford it...it is what I witnessed when I disputed my case. If you read my posts on Best Buy's forums (and others) and still want to do business with Best Buy without them addressing my concerns (and others) it is up to you.

Edit:

Feel free to dispute my claim in replies but this post is not meant as a debate or in any way to get my way in my case with Best Buy...it is a warning to all here...read the Best Buy Support Forums so you know what Customer Support you will get if you need it...I know I won't take that risk again...

I say this because there's a lot of replies below from people with the last name 'Buy' it seems. Not sure why they jumped in to defend Best Buy otherwise... 😉

Yet another edit:

Since it seems that folks on this board don't want to read my experience from the Best Buy Forums with calling Best Buy Customer Support at 1-888-237-8289. Here it is from my post:

  1. Call 1 - I was denied the price match because "the system won't allow it". I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told a supervisor would call me back in 30 minutes...never happened.
  2. Call 2 - Explained story again and was told I was being transferred to a supervisor...I was hung-up on.
  3. Call 3 - Explained story again and was asked to stay on hold to speak to a manager. 15 minutes later the "supervisor was free" and I would be transferred...was transferred to the Main Menu robot.
  4. Call 3 cont - Chose Sales in the main menu to see if I could get help there...explained my case and asked to speak to a supervisor...I was told I would be transferred to a supervisor...was transferred to the Main Menu robot.
  5. Call 3 cont. - Got back do a different person in level 1 support, explained the story again, and they actually spent some time to listen and document my frustrations even though they "could not do anything". I was told that in the next hour or so I would get a call from a supervisor...never happened. They also gave me a case # that doesn't seem to exist anywhere when I called back later to get an update.

And again, I stand by this 100% as the truth. And no, I was not being abusive or mean in any way. Regardless of my request, no one deserves to be lied to and treated like this. I was truly shocked and actually hurt...because Best Buy is probably the last retailer left that I have any emotional connection to. I honestly had tears in my eyes telling my story to the last rep on the final call...I was so focused on remaining calm I didn't even notice lol.

But who cares I guess if Best Buy values profits above all else right? Praise to the all mighty dollar!! ...this quarter...

...well, I care...cared I guess since I can't risk shopping there ever again...Bill also cared (links above)...

Did you even bother to read my experience with Customer Service?

Also, I would like to point to Best Buy's terms here...show me where I am wrong:

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/help-topics/price-match-guarantee/pcmcat290300050002.c?id=pcmcat290300050002&ref=212&loc=1&&&gclid=Cj0KCQjwn9CgBhDjARIsAD15h0A69JYQWzEm5u-nC7zZp5oYBp-T0sf8W0T6RT8RGzBcFA2pFJVH3n8aAjhZEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

"If we lower our in-store, online or app price during the return and exchange period, we will match our lower price, upon request."

I have to honestly ask...do you work for Best Buy?

Rather than have us hunt for your experience, can you lay it out and provide direct links rather than a link to a general forum?

Clearly what you should have just done is returned the purchase.

I have a feeling your side of the store isn't entirely accurate, because I've never had BB refuse a price match within the return window.

Also:  If you treat the agents like shit, you do get worse customer service.  So, that may or may not have been at play.

The product that were applicable for the Price Match were discounted DURING the return period of 15-days...I noticed two days after that...Best Buy support admitted that I would've been given the full discount if I got lucky enough to notice and called on 3/6/2023. I called on 3/8/2023 and had the most insulting Customer Support experience ever. They told me I was being transferred to a supervisor several times only to be hung up on or recycled to the main menu...I was not being AT ALL unreasonable or mean to the person on the other line.

30-day return period for Amazon and all "others" FYI all...

So you want the refund despite YOU being late...YOU need to notice and initiate during the return window. It's not on them to contact you.

But that's not what Best Buy's own terms say...right??? How can you read that differently? I know it is vague but that is not on the customer.

It also doesn't ay that you can initiate the price match after the window. It's their sandbox, you need to play by their rules, if you don't like them, you can do what you did, find somewhere else to play.

I do get it though, it hurts to know that you missed out on the money, but it's on you, not them.

Why do you "feel" you were owed $540 vs the $100 credit you were given?

From what I can gather, the products you bought went on discount a day before your return period, and you weren't able to capitalize. It sounds like you missed the window and are upset about it, because of the seemingly short amount of time. If they stretch the policy for you, then there's no point in having it to begin with, it can just be stretched to infinity.

I don't really expect people to stay on top of sales 24/7, but It sounds like bad luck, dude. Quit acting so entitled.

Edit: If I'm missing something, provide the proof of purchase (date etc.) and a screenshot of the sale period. They 100% can price match after the fact, through other means. Just depends if it's justified, from my experience.

Since you want the details:

3 of the 5 speakers were discounted $180.

Each one was $599 so easy to calculate.

$180 X 3 = 540

plus tax

...also, take a look at this post from 2 years ago before you start blindly defending a corporation:

14 day return window (on most items) and a 30 day price match policy .I know you're leaving info out because you don't even know the basics, on-top of shifting days now.

Won't doubt you got a tool on the phone, but you're not in the right here. You still can't provide any proof that you're entitled to anything.

And a "tool" on the phone??? They HUNG UP ON ME MULTIPLE TIMES...I promise that I was not being abusive...I was only asking for escalation and to speak with someone that ACTUALLY works for Best Buy yeah...

So isn't that 5 days outside of the return period?

They were discounted within the return period...which is HALF of ALL competitors out there btw...and Best Buy's own terms do not state that the request has to be made within that window...look for yourself...show me?

"If we lower our in-store, online or app price during the return and exchange period, we will match our lower price, upon request."

This part indicates that the request needs to be made during the return and exchange period.

The 2 standing speakers and the sub were discounted on 3/6/2023...the last day of the return period...I know that it was unlucky for my to not notice THAT DAY...come on...stop fighting for the billion dollar company...wtf!

We all know that 30-day is the standard everywhere else...also customer loyalty is above all else...I am a 30-year customer of Best Buy...if they are bleeding customers like me I see 5-10 year before bankruptcy imo.
