uhh no cpu is made for gaming, cpu's are made for calculations, games are just optimized for specific vendors of cpu's or the core calculations just handle game codes better.

Nope but the K variants are "enthusiast" grade. I am sure gaming is used as part of their testing though

the 4670k isnt that much different to any other i5 like the 4440 when not overclocked its just one of the unlocked enthusiast processors that can be overclocked and performs very well for the price

That said most mid to high end CPUs do a good job at gaming, the GPU still acounts for 80% of your gaming performance as long as your CPU is powerful enough not to drag down your GPU then gaming should be fine

Desktop - Corsair 300r i7 4770k H100i MSI 780ti 16GB Vengeance Pro 2400mhz Crucial MX100 512gb Samsung Evo 250gb 2 TB WD Green, AOC Q2770PQU 1440p 27" monitor Laptop Clevo W110er - 11.6" 768p, i5 3230m, 650m GT 2gb, OCZ vertex 4 256gb,  4gb ram, Server: Fractal Define Mini, MSI Z78-G43, Intel G3220, 8GB Corsair Vengeance, 4x 3tb WD Reds in Raid 10, Phone Oppo Reno 10x 256gb , Camera Sony A7iii

Yes but they wouldn't call them gaming CPU's. The S line is almost the same as K, just not overclock-able. (I could be wrong though)

EDIT:

On Intel's website they say the S stands for power optimized lifestyle.

Spoiler

Case Bitfenix Ghost, Mobo Asus Maximus VIII Ranger, CPU i7 6700K @4.2 Ghz cooled by Arctic cooling Freezer i30, (barely). GPU Nvidia GTX 970 Gigabyte G1 @1519Mhz core, RAM 16Gb Crucial Ballistix CL16 @2400Mhz. SSD 128GB Sandisk Ultra Plus as my OS drive. HDD's  1TB  Seagate ST31000524AS its OEM, 3TB Seagate Barracuda, 2x 500GB WDC Blue (RAID 0)

If it isn't working absolutely perfectly, according to all your assumptions, it is broken.

Figured as much it was coincidence. Felt like a noob asking, but oh well.

The closest CPUs from Intel that are intended for gaming/general consumers are the Pentium (G####) series CPUs. Second might be i3's but generally speaking, those seem like they're intended for OEMs. I wouldn't know really, they're not that great and still only 2 cores.

Like everyone else has said, CPUs (or almost any computer hardware, honestly) aren't designed around a specific consumer type so to speak. They're designed around a specific price point/cost for it's performance. It's kind of like saying no one is allowed to use a graphics card to mine cryptocurrencies because AMD or NVidia market them as gaming hardware and not general compute or some shit. It's not that you should or shouldn't do X with it, it's that you are able to at all. You don't need an Intel Extreme Edition i7 4960X to play Battlefield, but you can. Does that make it a gaming CPU?

This is why it looks odd that you asked why Intel processors are good for gaming. It's not about the company, it's about the processor. Lots of i3's blow, lots of them are also expensive. Same goes for some AMD. Not all processors are the best or at a price that makes sense. Over time, those things change as well (prices anyway, how to 'rate' a CPU's value as well). And both sides have their benefits or something that is worthwhile to buy for most people.

I haven't seen a computer for sale from a Big Box store with a Pentium in years, they are mainly for OEM solutions like NVR/DVR boxes, Point of Sale, etc.

I don't know anyone who has thought of a Pentium as a gaming CPU.

That's just the community recommended cpu for gamming. You don't need an i7 for gamming. Also, i3 isnt that far behind for gamming...

Their i cpu's are just plain good in most aspects, including gamming.

No and just because its a k part doesnt mean is a enthusiast part nor that its any reall different than the non k.
