rx 7900 xtx pcie connectors

Marcii

I have purchased an rx 7900 xtx nitro+, but i only have a psu with 2x 8+(6+2) pcie connector, and i figured that if The ref model has only 2 the aib model wont refuse to boot up, while also not allwoing my gpu wont overdraw on power.

I will also undervolt my gpu to 300w, since 1 pice connector is rated for 150w

The question is: can i only plug in two pice connectors?

could someone please test it out for me?

if it has 3, all 3 need to be plugged in for it to work, at least on all the cards i have seen. what psu model do you have?

you may end up needing another psu, but might as well try it first. daisy chain one of the cables for the third connection. it's not as ideal as three separate, but it still should be fine, and is not a fire hazard(not sure who told you this). there is no other way around daisy chaining one of the cables if you want to use your current psu with the new one afaik.

edit: also, which exact model fsp 700?

You need a 850 watt or higher to run that card,Buying a new psu is the only safe way to run that card.

You just spent $1000+ on a new gpu, surely you can afford the ~$150 for a decent psu?

Fsp Hydro bronz

Thanks for giving ne a useful answer
