First of all , This is my first time using this forum sorry if I posted this on the wrong page or if it is uncomfortable to read

Also here is some Photos of the Problematic part of the device

My main concern is portability , since it can technically close without a problem but it doesn't fit in a laptop carrying bag and it can break easily if it were to transport it for example , it also , you know , looks ugly.

When I upgraded my laptop with an SSD and opened it up from the back I did try to oil it and pushed the screen cable in slightly but that made the screen dimmed and required me to open the screen bezels and unscrew the screen to reach the screen cable.

turns out it wasn't plugged correctly and I think it was because of me slightly pushing in the cable inside the laptop case that it moved and un plugged slightly , I plugged it in and it got fixed, but since then I haven't messed with the screen or the hinges.

I am going on a small trip soon and I will take my device with me so I thought might as well fix the issue now since I have time.

The laptop is an HP-ac115nx

it comes with an intel core i3-5005u CPU , intel HD graphics 5500 , 4GB DDR3 RAM

I would appreciate any help and thank you for spending your time and reading.

Well there is no fixing that, there is just replacing what is broken at this point and good luck finding replacement parts for a device that old. You are pretty much looking at replacing the entire back LCD cover, hinge and most likely eDP cable.

It almost certainly will be way too expensive for a laptop of that age and specs.

Thx for replying,

I thought this might be the case since I've watched a couple of vids about this topic , I'll probably stick to using my other laptop when I travel now since it does mostly what I need and I might upgrade it instead of focusing on this one , I agree with you in terms of price and labor it is most likely not worth the trouble and cost and most importantly ,time.

Yeah so it's 100$ for a better laptop

Don't get it it's old too get something modern used or new

Or like 200$ for a new casing and lcd assembly

I'd know what to pick 😛

The only thing you could do is potentially use some really strong epoxy BUT that is a thermally reactive bondant so that might fuck other things up when it gets really hot

It is possible to fix, we've done a few 'hackjobs' with that same exact breakage you are experiencing by screwing plastic sheets to the broken off hinges to solidify them back together. It works but it takes a lot of time, effort, and it will look weird once done. Even then it runs the risk of breaking again since the original structure is broken

90% of the time its those shitty HP laptops with chinese plastic that break, which is what you have

Avoid cheap hp laptops at all cost. This is exactly why.
