Cyberpunk

Howdy forum, I thought I'd start a topic about cyberpunk, it's my favourite type of sci-fi theme and I want to find more stuff to see.

 

I don't really watch anime but I recently watched Ergo Proxy enjoyed it maybe 6/10, not really the thing I wanted, it's not strictly cyberpunk and it's a little dark for me but it was minus the things that normally put me off anime, like lots of squeaking/shouting and long sequences of people running/looking angry ect.

 

I'd be down to watch a cyberpunk anime if it's recommended, but I'm really after some recommendations for live action (+ FX) cyberpunk themed movies (obviously not super obvious ones like Blade Runner or RoboCop ect that everyone has seen) or maybe graphic novel type episodic stories or even books, I'm down to read a descriptive cyberpunk/scifi story for sure.

 

I cannot understand Japanese, I'd watch something in Japanese with subs instead of badly dubbed English though.

I seriously can't wait for that game. I've been wanting another Deus-Ex (the recent one) type game ever since playing it.

A cyperpunk anime would perhaps be Appleseed XIII, but I'm not familiar at all with anime. 

Cowboy Bebop also have some elements of cyperpunk, but it's probably wrong to categorize it as cyperpunk.

 

And I too will join the hype train for Cyperpunk 2077.

Me too, and I couldn't have picked a better developer, watch this if you want it's input from Mike Pondsmith, the guy who created the title the game is inspired by, Cyberpunk 2020 (pen/paper RPG years ago) originally years ago, very cool guy IMO and he is very enthusiastic about the upcoming game and the dev team.

Yes I'd agree with that, I also enjoyed the setting in Total Recall 2012.
