Intermintient Freezing of Computer

Go to solution Solved by Wagon,

@An0maly_76 @Radium_Angel I wanted to give a update I have fixed the issue after all this time, I set my 3rd monitor to its native 144hz, Its a vertical monitor I barely use so I didnt even notice the 60 Hz default. Its been a week now and I have not noticed the issue. Rookie mistake lol, you would think after working with Tech as a job for this long I wouldnt be making mistakes like this. Thank you both for your help!

My computer has an issue where when doing any task, it freezes Intermintientinly for up to 10 seconds; this issue can be fixed for a short time (1-3 hours) when I restart, but then progressively gets worse after that until the next restart. There is no particular time it does it, or when using specific software, it just seems entirely random. Event Viewer has no logs that are posted when this happens. I have swapped my ram as after some testing. I did discover I needed a better stick. However, that was not a fix. I have tried updating almost every driver; I did a clean install of graphics drivers (DDU). I have even done a fresh install of windows. The only thing I haven't done that I can think of is replace my motherboard/CP. I was wondering if anyone has ANY ideas because im desperate.

This has been happening for almost a year.

@Wagon

Could be RAM instability issues. Ryzen and supporting boards are quite funny about RAM. Check the board manufacturer's compatibility list for your RAM's specific part number. Absence doesn't guarantee it won't work, but it could be unstable. I had Crucial Ballistix in my 5900X that drove me nuts for months until @BiotechBenmentioned memory training, which coincided with the frequency of one particular issue and put me on the right track to solving it.

Also, 2700X doesn't support 3200... Up to 2933, which could be part of the problem. Disabling DOCP temporarily might help to troubleshoot this aspect.

Is this your only drive?

Have you tested it for drive health?

Wasn't there something in the tech news lately about Samsung drives failing prematurely?

NOTE: I no longer frequent this site. If you really need help, PM/DM me and my e.mail will alert me.

I did check this a while back, and i wasn't able to find an incompatibility issue

Not my only drive. I also have a Crucial MX500 SSD(1tb) and a 2tb HDD from seagate.
Did a quick drive health check with CrystalDiskInfo and it showed no issues.

Still could be flaky DIMMs. Also, many DIMMs these days are manufactured as single-rank or dual-rank and marketed under the same part #, and Ryzen tends to prefer dual-rank. Though if Samsung is having a quality control issue, that could be it too.
