What are items found around the house that are made of pure nickel or pure silver

SetSakara2

What are some common items found around the house made of pure nickel or pure silver (over 90% concentration please!) that can be used as an electroplate anode? For my school science fair, I decided to do electroplating for my project but before I spend any money on anodes I wanted to see if I could use any common household items. I'm probably going to plate coins, rings, and clarinet ligatures, so if anyone can help me this would be great!

Buy a piece of nickel. They make dedicated sacrificial anode plates that are like $10. Most things with nickel in them around the house will just be nickel plated, not solid metal. As for silver, anything around the house made of silver will be far too valuable to use for that.

I found 2 silver dollars and used those as anodes, they're working quite well, when the solution is done what color will it be and will my coins look the same?

Genuine silver dollars are worth like $15-17 in silver alone, if they're a collectible one they can be worth far more to said collectors.

Just get the proper gear for the task. It's cheaper and guaranteed to work properly.

+1 to this, there are no shortcuts in metallurgy.  If you want a good result then get the good stuff and do it right from the beginning.  The only thing you will learn from cheaping out in life is how to live with disappointment.

Truer words have never been spoken.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.
