Can I use non ECC memory on a ECC board?

If the board just supports ECC, it should work with ECC and non-ECC, but it can depend on the board. Which one do you have?

its an fujitsu server board (i cant even find the board name on the internet)

It's probably fine to run non-ECC memory in it. I've done it before on an HP server board.

The real key is to not mix ECC and non-ECC memory.

 

That said, if the board doesn't support non-ECC memory for some reason, you won't be hurting anything by trying non-ECC memory. At most, the board will fail to boot and throw a memory error POST code at you until you install ECC memory.

 

TL;DR, if you have both types of RAM, try them both for science
