This is an image when the laptop was idle. I'll attach other processes going on too.

McAfee is probably a big part of the problem. Is there a reason you're running that malware anti-virus bloatware software?

My dad insists on getting antivirus programs. I can't say no. Also, it did help me when once i accidently got malware from dodi repacks site.

So it's just windows11 issue?

I dont think its an issue with windows at all just a limited ram situation. even if you cant get another 8gb stick a 4gb stick will make a difference although ideally it would be two of the same sticks same manufactutrer

Windows defender is just as good if not better than all the anti virus programs installing another one will just add extra delay and use more system resources.

Tell your pops that windows defender is the better anti virus and it comes with firewall.

Is there a reason that Windows Defender isn't sufficient? It's way better.

I seeeee... but i've got one stick soldered onto the board and other stick i can upgrade. So, is it fine if i get same speed 16gb stick in replacement for the 4gb stick?

Alrighty I'll talk with him regarding McAfee.

Thanks a lot!

Older versions of Windows (XP, Vista, 7?) the built-in protection / anti-virus wasn't very good.

Windows 10 / 11, it is WAY better. I haven't had the need for additional anti-virus since switching to Windows 10 years ago.

If you want, you can install a free version of Malwarebytes anti-malware, and that would be enough -- it's also A LOT less RAM/resource hog than McAfee.

As for compatible RAM upgrade, it was actually asked on the DELL forums; I recommend you do a quick read through that before buying.

Basically, 4GB, 8GB, or 16GB stick of memory is supported (so max is 20GB).

Speed is DDR4-2666, with CL 19 memory timing, 1.2V.

You *could* get higher speed (i.e. DDR4-3200), but the laptop would just drop the speed down to 2666.
