adding more ram thats not from the same batch?

I have 8Gb now and if i wanted 16Gb i can get the same ram type without it being a problem right?

the odds that the RAM slot is broken is probably higher than different batches not working together

My editing rig has ballistic tracer ram and ripjaws in it. they work fine, general rule of thumb is make sure their timings are similar and mhz is the same.

My Platinums are from different batches and they work perfectly together. It's very unlikely that they won't work together. There's a much higher chance of one of the sticks being DOA.

My RAM sticks are not of the same brand, frequency, timings or voltage yet they still work.
