ASUS TRX 40 pro VRM fan + it shows 110 degrees temp?!

mcRYSHER

Hey guys!

Recently I noticed that a VRM fan on my MoBo doesn't spin. I rebooted and it started spinning again. Is it normal? I don't know much about that.

Also, I installed iCUE from Corsair and added MoBo to it. I wanted to see the temps. I was shocked that it shows 110 degress right after the boot. Is it a bug or I should be worried?

Spoiler

It is, if the board has a zero RPM mode.

It's Corsair RGB software on an ASUS board, use HWInfo or your BIOS immediately after a restart to check that.
If it also reports those types of temperatures, try finding an IR thermometer and pointing it at a non-reflective part of the VRM to see its temperature; doing so by hand might burn you and can be dangerous for your components.

I will find your Laptop thread and I will recommend an ITX build instead

Sure would be neat if there was something useful here, eh?

Also a quick note about VRM:

Most VRM components are completely fine to run at temperatures above 100C. Usually somewhere around 120C.

You run a hefty threadripper chip, booting activates a lot of that chip so it is only normal that VRM usage spikes during this time, meaning hotter temps.
