Hi Everyone

Right now I am quite confused, I have a couple of questions I need a good Graphics card that will do me good on games at everything full at 1080P and Soar through Photoshop and stuff like that

My Options in my budget are these with their prices in AUD :

EVGA 750 Ti FTW - $ 229

MSI R9 270 Gaming - $239

Gigabyte R9 270 Windforce - $219

Gigabyte R9 270x Windforce - $249

Which is the best option and why could you all please help me, I would prefer going for the Nvidia card as I know much more about them, I hardly know what AMD cards are like?

Please Help  :D

Kind Regards

Utkarsh Anand

The R9 270X will run circles around all those cards. The only reason i would think of the 750Ti is for the cuda acceleration. if your given application supports it of course.

But I have seen benchmarks and there are like 2-5 FPS difference between the 270 and 270x, could I get that 270x like performance out of the 270 by overclocking?

Yep go for the 270 or 270x but damn gpu's in Australia are expensive!

Motherboards are even costlier here, I got my Asus Maximus Formula 6 from NewEgg for only $323 Aud + H100i for $96ish and the total came to $420 and just the motherboard over here costed $439 -_-

Is it really worth saving up for a GTX 760 or 770? over the 270x ?

Well, I wouldn't get a 270x myself but it's not a bad card.

AMD's drivers and temperature is just terrible in my opinion.

I'd even get a 750Ti over a 270X.

For 1080p gaming a GTX 760 is the perfect card, when on sale it's like the price of the 270x's.

You'll also get Shadowplay for gameplay recording and GeForce Experience in general.

Raw performance wise the 270x is as good as the GTX 760 for several games and in the end it's personal preference.

I'd save up 60 more bucks and get a GTX 760 with an aftermarket cooler, you won't regret it if you are 1080p gaming.

But only if you really want an nVidia card.

A R9 270(x) is also perfectly fine for what you want to do.

i would go with the 270 gaming at those price and overclock it...or the 270x windforce if you don't care about noise.

To Be honest I really want an Nvida card because I'll be doing a lot of Photoshop work and that will use the CUDA's pretty Well

If you really want an nVidia card go save up for a GTX 760 with an aftermarket cooler, it will cost you a little more than 300 Australian dollars.

It is funny that you say that the drivers and temps are worse for AMD because from my personal experience from going from a 7950 to a 770 the opposite is true.....

The 7950 was a really cool running card, i had a windforce HD7950 and even overclocked this card was topping at about 55c...it was DAMN loud though...the winforce i hated this cooler, every bit of it i hated, even at 40% fan speed it was too loud for my liking...as for drivers nvidia is miles ahead in this department specially now with nvidia experience wich keeps everything up to date now it's much easier and much better, they also improve a lot more than AMD over time with driver optimisation.

That is a fair statement, all I know is that if someone wanted to trade a 280x for my 770 I'd do it in a heartbeat, I'd even pay shipping for both lol. My issue with Nvidia drivers at the moment is the damn drivers think they know better that everything so it constantly drops the usage on my card to lower power draw or keep temps low or whatever dumb reason so I constantly get core/memory clock speeds dropping low and causing stuttering like crazy. But some people don't get this issue or just don't realize it.

That video is the reason I am now confused lol

personally id go for the msi (im getting mine tomorrow after much wondering like yourself) the cooler looks better and seems to work great, the gigabyte needs a bigger/uglier cooler and i wouldnt bother with the rest.

the 270 and 270x overclock within 5% of each other give or take so theres no difference and the 750ti is the rival for the 7790, the 270 curacuo is a completely different ballgame.
