Has anyone else noticed a massive wipe of their youtube watched videos history?

Youtube never knows what to recommend to me besides the classic standby of recommending videos I've already watched.  In the last month though a LOT of videos have lost the "you've already watched this" red progress bars.  Actually two Wan shows ago Linus mentioned that old videos have been getting more views lately and I think this might be why.  Most people forget what videos they saw 2 or 3 years ago so if the red bar isn't there they might be more likely to click the video again thinking it's new.  I just generally recognize old content without having to look at the date and hell sometimes I still watch it again if it was funny enough the first time.

What happened is that someone at YouTube tripped and accidentally pulled the plug on the extension cord out of the wall connecting everything, causing the server to needing rebooting, and in the process losing the history data that they've never bothered to back up.

Oh yeah this was being a/b tested for about a year now I think?

I have a ton of repeating videos appear in my recommended to the point its often almost only those now. Can even be videos I watched a couple months ago.

OH yeah I know it was mostly in response to Linus saying old videos are getting more views lately.  I think this is the reason.
