tl;dr: Main GPU bad at work, idea to add a Quadro card to do the non-gaming computing, possible?

Hi everyone, I've got a nice mid-range PC that games really well.

The issue I have is when I try to do any work such as CAD, Video encoding or heavier photoshop work, my GPU seems to fall behind, causing instability, crashes, freezes... all that.

I've learned this is because the GPU I have is focused towards gaming, and it does not work with these non-gaming loads very well.

My solution is to stick a Quadro K4000 (or other) into the second X16 slot I have.

This Quadro would handle all the work while my primary GPU can still handle the gaming... without costing me £400 for a new GPU that can do both.

The PC Specs are:

-

  • CPU: Ryzen 7 5800X
  • GPU: Radeon RX580
  • MOBO: Asus prime-B450-plus

-

  • RAM: 8gb 3200mhz (x4 | 32gb total)
  • PSU: rm750 (should handle the load from both PSUs)

I'm here asking if this idea is doable, and if there would be any problems I should be weary of.

Thanks, all replies are appreciated

Ancient crudd dont do that. It will only be worse than your current gpu.

Like just a 3060 12gb would be the absolute most bang for the buck here

instability and crashes/freezes can be cause by A LOT of things , not a gpu just being able to play a video game. you should have people crosscheck your diagnostics before buying random hardware to solve it.
