It states here that I have to update the Intel VMD Driver to support Intel 13th Gen Processors, but isn't that done with just a bios update?
Do I have to  do then when I'm already in windows, or is that like a partial bios flash?

If you have Windows installed, have the VMD driver and use it for RAID functions then you need to update the driver on Windows before flashing the BIOS as there are changes that might break functionality with the old driver.

So if I don't want to use RAID, I just don't bother with this update?

Will my system stability suffer because of this?

As long as the BIOS isn't set to operate in RAID mode then it doesn't matter.

Yeah, I'm able to download the zip file. I just don't know where to install the update

If you unpack the file it should have a setup / installer program. At worst it will have a readme file.

Since this is a new system, (presumably using new storage), there is no need to install the VMD update.

If what you say is true, then why would the machine tell the OP the update is needed or required?  Yea, there should be some sort of setup or readme file contained within the .zip file, or better yet, some sort of install, setup, or runme file.

But I'm still curious about why it would tell you to get the update if it wasn't needed because the system is new?

It doesn't? It's just a note on a website page.
