Xbox controller with hall-effect?

Go to solution Solved by seon123,

They do sell Xbox layout keycaps for the Ultimate controllers for $3, if that's what you're looking for.

https://shop.8bitdo.com/products/8bitdo-abxy-buttons-for-ultimate-controller---xbox-layout

Same for the KingKong 2 Pro, alternate layout keycaps for $5.

I was looking for a new controller and was wondering there is an option with hall-effect sensors. Now I know that there is the new 8bitdo ultimate, but for some reason the one with the Xbox layout doesn't have hall-effect sensors and lacks Bluetooth. The other one however has a Nintendo layout.

Same with the Gulikit controller. It uses the Nintendo layout.

Now I don't mind that, but I only have PlayStation and Nintendo Layouts on my controllers and my gf can't deal with the wrong button prompts. We only play seldomly, but I would like to buy a decent controller.

Long story short:

Are there Xbox-style controllers with hall-effect sensors?

PC: AMD Ryzen 7 7700 || Noctua NH-U12S SE2 || 32GB DDR5 6000 CL32  ||
|| Powercolor RX 9070 Reaper || Asus B650E-I
  || WD 850X 2TB ||  Corsair SF600 || Intertech IM 1 |||
Peripherals: Sennheiser PC  360 G4ME || AOC CQ27G2U || Viewsonic PX701HD || Keychron V1 || Logitech G303 Shroud Edition||| Laptop: XPS 13 2in1 7390 || Steam Deck 256 GB (64GB Version) ||| Cameras: Fujifilm XH-1 || Fujifilm X100T

Tell her its a skill issue and to get good. Clearly that is the way to go.

Quite a few controllers have it, You should specify if you want Xbox 360, Xbox One, Xbox Series X etc since they are all slightly different.

I use the 8BitDo Ultimate Wireless with the hall effect sensor joysticks on PC as an "Xbox" controller just fine. Button prompts are all correct as you'd expect them with any Xbox controller. The only difference is what's physically printed on the buttons which if you're used to Xbox, doesn't matter at all.

That all being said I bought it because I thought having these supposedly fancy Hall effect joysticks would be useful but it feels exactly like the joysticks in my previous 8BitDo controllers and there has been nothing new or difference about the experience.

I really should have just got the standard model since I don't use Bluetooth or the motion sensor. The included 2.4Ghz adapter in the dock works great.

Ryzen 7 7800x3D -  Asus RTX4090 TUF OC- Asrock X670E Taichi - 32GB DDR5-6000CL30 - SuperFlower 1000W - Fractal Torrent - Assassin IV - 42" LG C2 - Windows 11 Pro

Thanks...? I mean we are in our mid 30s and I doubt she will somehow find time to "get good".

By Xbox-style I just meant that. There is no big difference to a non-gamer between those controllers you mentioned. The issue is that she actually has to look at button prompts and find those on the controller.

Yeah I am considering the regular one as well. I feel like that's a pretty good deal, especially compared to original Xbox. You get a rechargeable battery and dongle as well as charging station., Right?

Yup! It’s a really slick setup with the dongle hidden inside the dock. Actually the battery isn’t removable like previous models if that matters…

Do you know if multiple can pair to one dongle?

It didn't even occur to me to look for that. Thank you so much. That is perfect!

I have previously disassembled some controllers, but only to change out sticks. Great!

If you were to get the 2.4Ghz only version the buttons are in the right place already. Again though when used on PC even the BT version with the fancy joysticks still works and is recognized as an Xbox controller.

Yeah I know. My 8bitdo pro 2 is totally fine as controller for me, but my gf just plays every few months and she just won't remember the buttons. 😉

Shoot, I need to get the Gulikit caps. I need to disassemble the buttons regardless, one of them is sticking and I'll be rotating the switch housing to change from a tactile to linear feel to fix it.

If you're having issues with the switches, these might also be an option.

I remember just looking on the site and stumbling across them at some point

Oh, thanks. I might order some in case one wears out or breaks. I am 90% positive that just rotating the switch will solve my issue.
