PC Shuts off after on for about one hour

badlou101

I always start with checking temps, just rebuilt my PC and it turns out the cooler had loosened up after awhile just enough that it would slowly heat up.

Is that 88 degrees on the cpu or the gpu? Also is that F or C

if its the cpu that's getting close to thermal limit or over it on some cpu's and your core could be hotter than what's being read on the software in windows.

That is blazing hot my friend. I run an OC 3900x and 4.275 and I can barely get it to 75c on a hot day playing Call of duty. I would suggest checking if your cpu cooler is lose and make sure its clean as well. if your not gaming average pc usually runs around 40c idle when doing nothing.

What are you defining as normal usage? Are you sure the value you're looking at is in Celsius?

Was the system just idling at that point? Or was it doing something else? And when you say that it powers off without warning...Do you mean the computer is literally losing power, or that Windows is simply crashing?

Do you have another power supply you can try in your PC?

Too bad you don't have a spare PSU, are you sure your house's voltage is stable? or are you running the PC through an extension cord/multi-plug extension? if you do, you might consider plugging your PC directly into the wall and monitoring the result.

Are your displays still powered when the PC turns off?
