780 or 770?

Go to solution Solved by i_build_nanosuits,

The GTX 780 is a much cooler card than the r9 290 and consume quite a bit less power too...making it a quieter card, it's a much better choice.

Also the GTX 780's have a lot of headroom for overclocking where the r9 290 come's in already overclocked by AMD...the GK110 is a better GPU

and a little more capable than the hawaii board, these are all facts.

The thing AMD as going for it is the price, in some countries ATM the r9 290 is very agressively priced making it a better choice when price if factored

in...but that's not the case in canada and USA.

I just looked at the entire review from the link you provided only to realise that you highlighted only the ''good'' part of the review, the numbers that you liked to show...

reading through all the graphs clearly shows that the 290 consumes significantly more power and generate quite a bit more heat and noise...isn't it?

Here's the part of the review that i would like to highlight:

This also means that the 290 isn’t competitive with the GTX 780 on the matter of power consumption and power efficiency in general.

A 54W difference at the wall for identical performance in Crysis 3 – or extrapolated over our complete benchmark suite a performance

advantage of 6% – is very difficult to swallow. As with everything else to come for power, temp, and noise, the GTX 780 has a very real

advantage here.

the pic is with furmark omg .and i linked the whole review. and thats a stock card leave the noise and heat away we now have aftermarked cards. and its still 360w for whole pc not the single card. even lower with a quad core

dude you can talk as much as you want i recommend the r9 290 for the extra vram  for triple monitors gaming .because its better especially for future games. holy ....
