Samsung S95B and an Apple TV and you are good to go. Puts you right at $2k, maybe a bit more with sales tax if that applies to you. You can skip the Apple TV if you are fine with the "smart" features of the tv. I can't stand them.

As long as your TV isn't in direct sunlight I'd rec the LG C2. I have the 48"C1 and I love it, though I can't vouch for the speakers.

I second this. I have a 55" C2 and I couldn't be more happy with it.

I use it for films, TV, shows, gaming (PC) and it's absolutely brilliant.

One thing of note is that most (all?) Samsung 4K TV's lack Dolby Vision HDR. They have regular HDR10 and HDR10+.

For a casual viewer, that's likely not a big deal at all, but it is pretty much the only main downside to the otherwise excellent S95B.

  • 2 weeks later...

Coming back to this topic.
First, I am a European, so I am not aiming for american/canadian markets.

I still didn't make a decision due to the fear of OLEDS not having good life.

My usage is going to be mostly on nights for gaming / watching TV. The content I mostly watch are TV shows on streaming platforms, however they are not 4k, they are FHD. The gaming is going to happen on a PS5. Usual TV is going to be watched once in a blue moon but rarely and for short bursts (30m-2h at most). I just realized that most of the content I am watching is going to be FHD.

Now I do have the possibility of getting

- LG C2 at 1500$

- Samsung QN90A at 1500$

Does anyone know if I should still aim for OLED or should I aim for non OLEDS.

Does anyone know what the lifetime of an OLED is? I am not talking about burn-ins (seems to be rare in the past years), however I am more concerned about dead pixels that seem to often appear on OLEDs in general.

Any ideas?

I would choose the LG C2 without hesitation if they're comparable screen sizes.

The lifetime of the OLED should still be measured in many years. Not accounting for burn-in, the panel itself will probably still last you 10+ years. I've personally not heard of many dead pixel issues on OLEDs.

But that's my personal preference. If you're afraid of OLED reliability, by all means, buy an LED backlit panel, like the QN90A, but ultimately, OLED technology has come a long way, and I wouldn't be overly concerned about it.
