In this thread we post specs and try to warn each other about bottleneck(gaming or generally), I go first:

CPU:        FX-6100 @ 4.0 GHz
RAM:       8 gig ddr3 Mushkin redline @936MHz (9-10-9-27)
MoBo:     ASUS SABERTOOTH 990FX (first version)

GFX:       Radeon HD7950 by ASUS (didn't touch stock clocks)

Storage:  SSD Mushkin 120 gigs

I think my CPU is bottlenecking it, what do you think? Did I forget something?

Monitor your gpu loads. If its below 99% its a cpu bottleneck, if youre at 99% its a good thing and you should upgrade the gpu if you aren't happy with the performance you have at 99%. If you're getting around 70-80% on your gpu around 45 fps, you'd just get 60 fps at 99% keep that in mind as well. Whenever you're way off 99%, dont upgrade the gpu because it wont make the difference.

Found it ;)

Of course that depends on the game.

Really? Do you think that would affect BioShock Infinite gameplay, I was getting a bit of lag when playing that the other day.

at 3.1ghz of bulldozzer power it could bottleneck just about anything.

Bioshock is more of a GPU bound game, maybe check driver version (latest is 337.something I believe on nvidia)

See here:

CPU_03.png

There isn't much difference between CPUs, the 8120 isn't listed so use 8150 as comparison.

Get the CPU to 4.5-4.7Ghz and put a OC on the GPU as well.

You need to get to 4.4-4.7Ghz as well. Memory with tight timings and at a higher speed will also help.

Changing ram from 1600 to 1866 with the same CL pickup up FPS on BF4 by 5 on my 8350.

An SSD wouldn't hurt either.

I'm a bit tight for cash atm and I've been looking for a really good deal on a 120GB ssd.

Plus I've never really overclocked so i'm gonna look more into it. I've got a custom loop so I should be able to squeeze a lot of performance out of my CPU and not worry too much about overheating.

Don't overclock your cpu if your gpu runs easily at 99% as you see in harry's benchmark there's no gain from a better cpu or oc'ed cpu.
