Doom Eternal FPS drops

Ryzen 5600

16 GB CL16 3200 Mhz

Radeon 6600 8GB

FireCuda 520 2TB 

 

Yes, I have disabled the steam overlay. This seems to occur whenever it wants to. I play at 1440p ultra and keep it capped at 100 fps. Every so often it will randomly drop to 50-70 fps for no reason and stay there until you reboot, which sometimes doesn't fix it. I've tried everything and the only thing I can think of is this horrible AMD driver that released a week or two ago.

AMD has not released a new Windows 10/11 driver in December-8-2022.

I would say monitor system usage, and see if there is a memory leak (either system RAM or VRAM) or something.

It only occurs in this game. I played Doom 2016 all the way through and this never happened once.

What kind of settings in game are you using? If your maxing out your VRam and forcing system ram this could cause that very issue

I remember reading somewhere that there's a bug in Doom eternal that doesn't affect everyone but if you're one of the "lucky ones," and you get weird frame drops set the texture pool size to ultra nightmare and it magically correct it, you can try it for the giggles atleast, if not I'd say cut down the texture pool size, give the GPU a little more breathing room
