i have a pretty old computer lying around so i thought why not install LinuxMint  and make it a separate station for browsing but the problem is its lagging like theres no tommorow any recomendations?.The PC has Intel Celeron 1.7Ghz 1 core 2x256MB memory modules and an FX5500 graphics card(when i say its old i mean its REALLY OLD).

That's your PC not being strong enough to drive the OS. Had something similar on a netbook.

 

Are you using x86 or x64?

 

What GUI are you using?
