So I bought a lightly used GTX 780 SC for $430 and well needless to say im feeling kinda stupid about it and wishing I would have bought a 770. I know all of this will go away as soon as I see it (ie. Nerdgasm) however that doesnt change the fact that i think I just spend too much on a GPU.... What do you think, I don't plan on getting another one for 4-5 yrs or more so it will last a while.

I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of my 290X Reference cooler running at 60% fan speed. And I can't see your post through the 144FPS I get in Skyrim with mods (albeit not a lot of them) at 1080p.

For my pertinent links to guides, reviews, and anything similar, go here, and look under the spoiler labeled such. A brief history of Unix and it's relation to OS X by Builder.

Just as long as you can live comfortably after this decision (ex: eat, pay rent/bills, etc), then it's a great one.

Woo!

Why regret? A 780 is consistently faster than a 770, in all situations. It will provide a smoother experience, and last a little bit longer

If you need to feel better

Yes, this.

"did I spend too much" is a lot better of a question than "why didn't I spend more". it's an itch of guilt that you can't scratch easily.

Woo!

People always say that. Look at a gpu from four or five years ago, they're doing pretty fucking bad.

You'd be surprised. A geforce 8800gt 512MB from 2007 can run any game out today with playable frame-rates at a resolution of 1440x900. Including Crysis 3 on low settings.

I will equate playable to managing to hit 30, bare minimum settings, and 1440x900 sucks.

Do this math. Figure out how many hours you will get out of your video card so considering across the next two years you might spend an hour a day gaming thats 700 hours

780(around 500 dollars)

500/700=0.7

770(around 400 dollars)

400/700= 0.57

Thats 13 Cents  difference an hour for a better gaming experience and might be the difference between the card lasting 700 days vs 500 days.

Does it really seem so much now? And considering most gamers play more than 7 hours a week anyway.

Edit just realised you put used in your post but my point stands.
