Hello,

I am looking to upgrade my CPU as I've been told that it bottlenecks my pc hard. I am a complete begginer so I was hoping that you guys could help me pick a CPU.

I mainly play WoW, and on there i get solid frames, but whenever alot of Players/Spells are on the screen the frames can drop to ~20-30 which isnt rly playable for me anymore.

Is there like an go to cpu pick for something like that? Would appreciate it alot if you could help me with recommandation (also for fitting motherboard). Budget would be 500 to max. 1000€ for cpu/motherboard/cooling combined

Thanks in advance!

My current build is:

CPU
    Intel Core i7 6700 @ 3.40GHz
RAM
    16,0GB Dual-Channel DDR4 @ 1063MHz (16-18-18-36)
Motherboard
    MSI B150 GAMING M3 (MS-7978) (U3E1)
GPU
4095MB NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER (MSI)
Storage
465GB Samsung SSD 860 EVO 500GB (SATA (SSD))
    931GB Seagate ST1000DM003-1CH162 (SATA )

Budget (including currency): 500-1000€

Country: Germany

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: WoW, new games that come out

Your ram clock is so low. If you're getting a new motherboard/cpu I would get a better kit of ram as well.

It's 2133mhz, so it is slow but not as slow as you're probably thinking. Remember DDR means Double Data Rate, some applications report the speed before it's doubled. I would agree if he's going to change platforms he should probably get new RAM but I don't think it's much of a limitation at the moment.

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

Thanks for all the replies

If i recall currently the Ram I have is some Corsair Vengeance that could go to 3200Mhz with XMP or something like that? Ive tried to activate it but I think my Motherboard cant support that speed. Would it be a big difference if I switch the motherboard to a newer one and stick with the old cpu? Could go with better RAM aswell if that makes a difference

Best gaming CPU, best cooling for it, best memory and still under €700. You have some really cool prices in Germany.
