Can a 980ti be used at 3440 x 1440 165hz?

My just got his new AW3423DWF but is stuck with his 980ti until he's able to get his hands on a 7900xtx.  Monitor won't let him go above 100hz while using the full resolution of the pannel.  Is he limited due to his old GPU?

Probably not, due to ports on the card and lack of DSC support for that generation. Which card is it exactly?

It’s not possible because of the revision of the hdmi port or display port.
