That is basically actually a laptop, but with the ability to connect to a cellular network, make calls, and full SMS/MMS support. It should also be great for gaming, so it needs to have 16 or 32 GB of RAM, whatever a good laptop CPU is, an RTX 3070 or eqivilent or better, and a high refresh rate display.

I just want a phone that has no stupid software compatibility issues. I hate that you just apparently need a computer to do certain things, and those things don't even require good processing power! Developers just want users to have seperate devices instead of one high-end device to do everything! It's ragefuel that my phone cannot run Mega Man 11 even though it definitely has the processing power to do so.

Also, I do not care if this phone retails for $4000 USD (even without any storage included), I just finally want peace and less outrageously stupid software compatibility issues.

How about two devices neither of which is a phone?  An m1 air and an Apple Watch together would do it.  Another way is just use a regular laptop or tablet with an internet connection of of almost any sort, and do VOIP. Downside is you’d have to carry your laptop/tablet around like it was a phone. (A really really big phone with meh battery)

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

You could get an android tablet, these often have SIM card slots and for gaming, you can run GeForce Now on them and have lots of gaming time on one charge because the device isn't actually running the game. They come in various sizes, up to the 17" monster from Samsung

They don’t have the ability to be phones though I thought. The SIM card is just for data, and they charge through the nose for it. An always on mobile internet connection is really spendy.  OP is not the first person to think of this.  Cell phone companies have already planned for it, and they’re the ones who make the big purchases.  A cell phone that runs, say, desktop windows isn’t just possible, it’s easy.  Won’t happen anytime soon though.  At least not in a mainstream OS.  The market has to change fundamentally for that to be possible. There have been several Linux phones over the years that tried that.  They were all “power to the people” and did it anyway, but they all died.  The carriers wouldn’t buy from them.  They continue to pop up occasionally.  If you really want that you want a Linux phone that has accessible hardware.   And you need to become a programming maven in whatever distro they cook up, because whatever you by will start cheap and then die, so you’re going to have to do your own support.

I actually did try to look into laptops with cellular. Such a thing does technically almost exist, but apparently not enough, at least not in my case. For one, most websites that recommend laptops like this have Snapdragon 8cx SoCs, which are ARM64 and nowhere near the performance I need for Switch emulation. There are a few with full amd64 CPUs, but those usually do not have a dedicated GPU, and top out at 16 GB of RAM. Quite simply, it is extremely difficult to find a gaming laptop that meets all these requirements. At this point, I will just buy an HTC One X+ for a cell phone, and also have a high-end laptop with no cellular. I do not want to do that, but I just want to avoid arbitrarily stupid software compatibility issues that plague every smartphone in existence. At the very least, what software compatibility issues that affect the HTC One X+ are mostly technical now and no longer as arbitrary as they are on newer smartphones. I honestly really, really hate smartphones and just want a laptop that can do everything they can do, minus those arbitrary software incompatibilities.

It honestly bothers me that cross-platform games like Mega Man 11 and Sonic Mania are not on Android even though it would not just be possible, but actually quite easy to get ARM64 Android versions of those games running better than they would on Switch. Why make a cross-platform game available on Switch if you're going to skip Android? There is no technical reason to do this! (Yes, I understand there are a few non-technical reasons, but they're even more stupid and arbitrary)

Why don’t Nintendo owned games go android or Mac?

Mega Man 11 and Sonic Mania were simply published on a Nintendo system, they weren't actually published by Nintendo, nor does Nintendo own the rights to these games. That's the reason they're even on Windows, PS4, and Xbox One in the first place.

Why the One X+, out of curiosity? Really good bargain? Don't like any of the phones on the market in recent years?

The truth is that there just isn't much of a market for a gaming laptop that doubles as a full-fledged phone. The closest you get are the phone integrations you sometimes find on Macs and Windows PCs where your calls and texts are routed through software on the computer. I do a lot of my workday calling and texting on my Mac, for example. You don't have to like the situation, but you do have to adapt to it.

As for game development, porting from Switch to Android isn't just a matter of recompiling the code. You have to redesign the interface for touch-only (since you can't assume there's physical controls) and rethink the performance budget. Remember, the developers would suddenly have to support dozens or even hundreds of phones, each of which may have slightly different hardware or OS considerations.
