Hooking up my old gamecube to a modern monitor

I already have my eyes on a few RCA to HDMI converters that look good and am wondering if there are other things to look out for when hooking up my old gamecube to either of my modern monitors (AW3418DW Ultrawide, Samsung Odyssey G7 240 Hz) such as any possible scaling, frame rate, or resolution weirdness (this is probably more likely on my ultrawide). I also haven't been able to find any RCA to DisplayPort adapters - would there be any advantage to converting RCA to DisplayPort instead of HDMI if the adapters even exist? Also, would I be able to get game audio by simply hooking up a headset or speakers to my monitor somehow or would I need to do something else?

On Amazon there are both Display Port to RCA cables and convertor boxes available. They are possibly available at your local computer retailer or even Walmart.

 

How well they work, I don't know, but for the >$20 US they list for, you're not risking much.

If you're little serious on retro gaming you may consider products such as Retrotink 2x pro. Maybe it's just me, but cheap RCA to HDMI converters never looked good enough to the point I rather get my CRT TV working again. But you could try cheap converters first and see whether it looked satisfactory for you.

 

HDMI or DP won't matters as the resolution would be really off from its maximum bandwidth.

If your GameCube has the digital output, you can use the Retro-Bit Prism to get pure digital conversion to HDMI. But only early production models had this port, later revisons removed it.

 

Otherwise, there's nothing to gain be changing from HDMI to DisplayPort with what you have now.
