i have recetly been playing diablo 2 on my 7 year old PC ( it runs modern games no problem, or at least it did )

while playing my game froze and my PC locked up so i turned it off and let it sit for a few minutes

half an hour later i turned my PC on again, and it idled for a few second then turned it self off, 3 seconds later it turned itself on only to begin the cycle again.

so i pulled the plug and let it sit again not knowing what else to do

an hour later i pluged the computer power back in and attempted to turn it on again, and this time it seemed to work but NO

 i got an error stating

WARNING!! previous overclock failed, initial setting will be applied. press any button to continue

WHAT THE FUCK

i complied and pressed the space bar to continue

the next screen said

WAIT...

it sat there for 3 hours so my dad ( having more PC knowledge then myself ) turned the pc off

the pc now keeps going in the turn on turn off cycle and i dont know what to do

please help

Have you done any overclocking? You could try taking the battery out and resetting the BIOS to get rid of any OC, after that it's going to have to be new hardware.

Spoiler

Case Bitfenix Ghost, Mobo Asus Maximus VIII Ranger, CPU i7 6700K @4.2 Ghz cooled by Arctic cooling Freezer i30, (barely). GPU Nvidia GTX 970 Gigabyte G1 @1519Mhz core, RAM 16Gb Crucial Ballistix CL16 @2400Mhz. SSD 128GB Sandisk Ultra Plus as my OS drive. HDD's  1TB  Seagate ST31000524AS its OEM, 3TB Seagate Barracuda, 2x 500GB WDC Blue (RAID 0)

If it isn't working absolutely perfectly, according to all your assumptions, it is broken.

I would really recommend looking into buy a new system since 7 year old hardware is bound to die someday. Also it's probably time to upgrade.

i have been for the past moth now and have just finished planning my build

P.s my dads pissed at me cos he thinks i broke the PC by playing games on it

PCPartPicker part list: http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/3CCog

-snip-

Don't get the H80i. Get a 240mm rad.

Get a better case. It's not that great.

Try get a different PSU since RM has had problems

The rest of it looks good. Not sure you need 16Gb of ram for gaming.

whats wrong with the H80i? and shit ok then ill look for another PSU

and i do tafe work ( game programming and video recording /editing/rendering) so 16gb would probably be good

So the 16GB makes sense. :)

H80i really is not that great performing compared the the H100i. I added two great screens which will be great for productivity.

i wont really need a super dooper CPU cooler as i wont be overclocking it, but i do want a cooler other than the stock intel one which i don't trust

Hyper 212 EVO or PLUS.

I have been using the stock cooler for over 8 months and I haven't had any problems

i would either get a h100i or a solid air cooler, the h80i pretty much much comes with all the downsides of aio but not really alot of the benefits, i wouldn't be arsed with aio's unless you get dual rad, in your case i would recommend a regular air cooler, a hyper 212 would probably serve you well, or maybe something like a be quiet dark rock advanced because it's abit more stylish, the mounting on the corsair aio coolers are pretty iffy...

EDIT: meant be quiet dark rock advanced, not dark rock 3.

Are you serious with that title bro...

"Use an informative title briefly describing the error. It's not helpful to see a thread titled "please help" or "Urgent" because most people are better at some problems than others, so may not prioritize your issue, and some people will ignore you completely."

What do people even put in these things?
