Forum Responsiveness Slow After 15/12/2022 Server Maintenance

Steps to reproduce/what were you doing before it happened?

Trying to click on notifications to view whom quoted me or new threads and replies. Navigating the forum is very very slow. 

 

What happened?

The page will possibly load in after more than 20-30 seconds of loading "wheel" or just give an error message. 

What did you expect to happen?

To actually load the thread or navigate the forum.

This all started happening yesterday afternoon after the server was down for maintenance, if I'm understanding correctly where they moved to a different server. 

 

If it's a cloudflare error, what was the ray ID from the bottom of the error page?

We were just discussing this amongst us moderators as we are feeling it heavily as well and we believe it possibly (not confirmed) due to the new server still indexing everything. Some sections of the forum are still being indexed. This is also causing duplicate replies/posts due to the delay in server response and people hitting the Submit multiple times thinking they didn't hit it the first time.

Ok, I thought it was just me as I even rebooted my router and system and still appeared to slow down. Hopefully we will find out what is occurring.

the site was down for a very long time and after that it's also slow loading for me, sometimes 10seconds sometimes 20seconds

The Background indexing and tasks are completed now so if they were the culprit the site should now operate as intended without issue. Please do let us know if you have anything further going forward now.

For me it's still quite a bit slower than before the server change. I'm seeing some pages take upwards of 10 seconds to load, though most aren't quite that bad. On my end it's a lot less responsive than it used to be. Not sure if that's something to do with my account or anything, but I've tried it on multiple network connections and all of them behave the same.

Try clearing broswer cache. You can also use Cntrl F5 to do a similar function and see if there is any improvement.

I just came back here and the slowness returned, I tried clearing all the website data but still, takes almost 10 seconds to load new post or 40minute old post with 15 replies..

Its taking me 3-5seconds at most to load a new post. But im sure the server Admin team will take a look and see whats going on.

it's also fluctuating, like sometimes it loads in 1 second, and sometimes it takes 10 seconds

I've been noticing that with my phone connection. Even replying it will either post immediately or tell me saving for 5 seconds.

I think it made it worse for me doing cntrl F5. Now pages are taking a few seconds to load in.

I am also seeing this degraded responsiveness. takes a few seconds longer to load pages than before the change. (did try alt F5 and saw no difference)

I'm currently typing this from a completely different computer, one that I haven't used to access the forum since August. I'm using a completely different browser (Safari on macOS), and the browser cache has been wiped. The slowness is still present, and the behavior is identical to what I've experienced on my phone and on my other computers.

There is certainly a sluggishness happening since that maintenance, absolutely. Sometimes I'll click a link and it'll just load forever until I realize it never opened and I click it again and it loads instantly. Sometimes i'll click things a few times before they'll load but always when they finally do, its instant.

Has it gotten better in the last hour or so? It went down again for a short time, and since then it's been much faster for me.

I got home about 25 minutes ago and saw I had a notification. Clicked it nothing happened, just loading. Clicked it a few more times and nothing. Got the page to refresh and it finally loaded. We'll see.

It was acting very strange shortly before the most recent maintenance event, but after I refreshed the site once it was back up it started working fine.
