Hey guys there at ltt! I have a big question, I want to update my bios to have the AMD resizable bar for SAM but If update to the latest bios for my motherboard It'll set my bios to windows 11 by default and I'm on windows 10, Will I have to upgrade to windows 11 to do that? or Will it just go back into windows 10?

The motherboard I have is ASUS x570-p and the bios I have is 2407 If I remember right, please help!

TLDNR:  No.  I wouldn’t think so.

Why I think that:

Spoiler

Bios is a sort of base not-really-an-OS that is generally only capable of getting the machine going and checking functionality of the hardware. It then runs whatever OS is on the hard drive.  Bioses aren’t even done by microsoft, but by other companies One of them is Phoenix and another is American megatrends. Dell does their own iirc.  These companies generally don’t have anything to do with Microsoft structurally.  Though I suppose they may have bought one.  If bios determines which OS you run Linux wouldn’t be able to run on x86/AMD64, which it clearly does.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

Pretty sure "Support Windows 11 by default, no settings changes required in the UEFI BIOS." only means some BIOS settings that Windows 11 requires to be ON is ON by default.

Like secure boot, tpm, etc

There is approximately 99% chance I edited my post
