doubting my cpu purchase is it okay?

Godd

Budget (including currency): $2000

Country: usa

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: streaming, editing, 3d modeling, and gaming (mostly games like valorant cod mc etc)

Other details : these are the parts that I purchased from looking on pc part picker and watching other video recommendations. I had my friend look over then and said it was a pretty decent computer but after purchasing them made a comment about how I might need to overclock it. I don't know what that is or how I would go about doing that. I haven't built it yet but should I return/ swap out my cpu? also any other tips would be really helpful. I would preferably like to not have to think about upgrades or a new computer for the next 5 to 10 years if possible, thank you so much!

If all you got is a HDD, then your friend is clueless about computers. That system looks fine other than lack of SSDs.

It may not be the newest cpu on the market, but absolutely nothing wrong with it.  It's a very capable processor.

As @Levent says, only thing that is missing is an ssd.

^^^ Get a boot SSD in there and you're golden. Very nice spec, and it's cool to see a proper all-white build, those are often rough to assemble as white components are weirdly uncommon.

As for the CPU question:

1. That CPU is fast as heck already.

2. It isn't a -K chip, you couldn't overclock it if you did want to (not that there's much of a gain to be had on newer CPUs anyways).

CPUs have changed up a good bit in the last couple years, sounds like your friends are still expecting them to behave like older generations, so they're giving you info that's a bit outdated.

is there a certain type of SSD I should get or would i be okay with using a adata su635? I have seen that you could be fine without one but if needed I think I still have one of those.

So much money on cooler and case for a meh GPU, bad balance imo...

CPU is ok but a z690 board on a non OCable CPU is kinda wasted too

For the SSD get a M2 NVMe one

I would recommend an NVME if you dont have an SSD. Something like these two should be perfectly fine.

Note: There might be better ssds for the money. We used to have a list, I am not sure how valid it is nowadays.

The only other alternative could be a 12600KF but you have to take into account the price to performance ratio

Have you tried turning it off and on again? Maybe Restart it?

Yeah sure it could be more balanced and a 3070 possibly 3080 would have been a relatively easy addition but it this is what op has it's alright just needs an ssd still.
