UV LEDs

Not sure if this is the correct section but bare with me.

 

So I plan on adding some LEDs to my computer and I really liked how the UV LEDs looked. But do they actually give off that purple look with the lights off/on or will you only see certain uv reactive components light up? If not, does anyone know anywhere I could find some 10in ~ 12in purple LED sticks that are around $10.

depends on the led quality

if you get some cheap 'UV' strips from ebay you will have a lot of purple glow

 

if you get some strips specifically made for PCs and have good customer reviews those will have very little purple glow

there is no 'perfect' UV led that only emits UV and no purple glow, but you can get pretty close to no glow with decent quality strips

you really need to go cold cathod for a real uv effect. you can get skinny ones

 

real, medical uv leds, that would give the same effect as cathod, cost far too much to use in a pc

 

 

 

purple light, yeah. but theres some that dont give off too much "light"

I just want a purple light that isn't extremely bright.
