Low FPS, but low gpu and cpu utilization

spencerstephens

I just installed a new gpu, downloaded the drivers, and played some apex

neither gpu or cpu is being fully utilized but I am getting capped in game around 130 fps

was higher fps and gpu utilization in the firing range (less map to load) if thats useful info

asrock 450m pro4 mobo

ryzen 5 3600

rx 6750xt

16gb ddr4 3200mhz ram (running at correct speed now, helped a lil)

download hwinfo and run it while playing.

to see temps, clocks and usages.

i think its something related to windows and drivers. you should re install drivers using DDU and then a clear instalation. gl

you need to know that apex is limited to 144fps, and maybe drivers updated your ingame config and turned all the way up your graphic settings (nvidia does that).

have you checked to see if there is an fps cap enabled in the game?

Yes it's 144, but I disabled it and hit 200+ in firing range

I am monitoring those valiues with AMD Adrenaline. Will try uninstalling drivers and the game and reinstalling both like you suggested

Latest BIOS with Agesa 1207?

Latest chipset drivers downloaded from AMD?

Playing on 1440p (your hardware looks to be for it) or lower?

Chipset drivers auto installed with adrenaline software

have not updated bios per reccomendation

and I am playing 1080p doing testing before my 2k monitor arrives, but if it cannot hit 165hz on 1080p, i don't think it will in 2k

Chipset drivers do not auto install with Adrenalin software. Means you're lacking the propper chipset driver.

Here you go (it's the same chipset drivers for all AM4 and AM5 boards/chipsets).

https://www.amd.com/en/support/chipsets/amd-socket-am4/x570

Here are the bioses:

https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/B450m Pro4/#BIOS

You can use CPU-Z to see which one you have (motherboard tab).

Asrock says:

**** If the current BIOS version is older than P2.00, please update BIOS to P2.00(PinnaclePI-AM4_1.0.0.6) before updating this version. So if it's older than P2.00 you need first flash P2.00 and then the latest.

Thanks. I updated the drivers. Better, but still underutilized. Why would I update my bios and risk something going wrong. I only changed the gpu out it shouldnt do anything

Not wanting to fix issues because something might go wrong?

That's like running barefoot cause something might cut through your shoes.

Or not changing the car oil cause the new oil might leak out...

If there was nothing to fix, there wouldn't be fixes. Inform yourself.

Or don't, I don't care. Bye.
