so i recently built my first computer and here's my problem, the 2 hard drives i have in it are showing they all of their space in unallocated and there is not drive letter for with either one. disk 1 in the picture is a new 2 tb wd black and disk 0 is a 3tb wd green and the 2tb  of unallocated space is 2tb of mainly media. basically how do i get these drives to have letters (when i right click either drive the only available options are new simple volume..., properties, and help) i have a feeling i can get it to do what i want if i use the new simple volume wizard but will that have any effect on the 2tb of information i have on disk 0

Try formatting the drive, that may help.

You need to format drives. Most drives come in a non-formatted state. Right click on one of the "allocated" areas, click on Simple Volume, and follow the instructions.

Format as NTFS.

I'm confused as to why you said "will that have any effect on my 2TB of information?" According to the screenshot, the hard drive is completely non-formatted.

will that have any effect on the 2tb of information i have on disk 0

Are you sure you had data in drive 0?  because it looks like is partitioned, but does not contain any data right now.   Maybe your data is in Drive 2 ?

alright so i formatted the new drive but i am certain that the dive 0 has information on it and i don't want to loose most of it. it was a wd green that was previously being used externally on my laptop for extra storage. any help would be appreciated what if i go through the new volume wizard and chose not to format?

I would recommend Testdisk, I just used that program (it's free) to recover the data from a corrupt USB drive for a client.

Or, if you are prefer a GUI for the program, I have used Recuva before and usually worked.
