i am looking to create a pc for sim racing and will play only beam ng.

i need help picking parts.

cpu: ( i need alot of cores and threads for ai drivers)

ram: 16gb

gpu: something like a 1060 or better

storage:just a small ssd 

what could be built for that budget?

Not possible for the budget. Youd needbat least double. A gtx 1060 class card alone eats 1/3 of the budget.

According to steam, there's no Linux version of this game.

 

Their video looks as if they're driving in low gravity ... or probably more accurate, as if the vehicles have reduced inertia.

but people are seiing builds with 4th gen i5 16gb ram and 1060 for 280

Your best bet is getting something used locally then upgrading the parts that aren't up to snuff with your remaining budget. Just keep in mind you'll need a gpu that is in the Nvidia 900 series or newer to run BeamNG on Linux because of Proton.
