I am upgrading my pc and it says I need UDIMM RAM but I was hoping I can get DIMM RAM instead would it still work? The prebuilt is an Asus ROG G10DK

You want to use regular DDR4 memory like any other computer does. When talking bout UDIMM and DIMM in the same sentence, DIMM refers to server memory also knows as buffered and registered memory. Those modules will not work in a regular motherboard like the one in your computer. UDIMM aka unregistered memory is what you want to use but unless it is server memory it will just be called DDR4 or SD-DDR4.

In the past we had unregistered and registered modules, there was no DDR/2/3/4/5 etc. The only step up was from EDO to SD Ram, so the choice was fairly easy. Nowadays things get confusing especially because there are UDIMM and DIMM that support ECC but DIMM won't work on regular boards but UDIMM will work on server boards.

We don't know what motherboard you have. What motherboard do you have? If it's a laptop, what model is it?

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.
