Hey guys ^^ So I'm going to be starting my first build next week O.o was kind of scared at first but after watching countless hours of build tutorials, I feel confident enough to give it a shot! I feel as if I could easily put it together only thing is I want to make sure I have the right parts for what I'm going to use it for.

I'm going to be using this for work, and I would also be doing a lot of gaming on it xD I don't have a crazy huge budget ($2000-$2300) and would like to get the best parts for my money, I want it to last a long time so I'm afraid of getting cheap parts that wont last me very long :/

I am going to be doing animation, drawing, gaming, and maybe a little video editing. I use adobe programs and am sick of my current comp freezing/ lagging while working on projects. I also use 2 monitors one 18" and another 25" both HD.

the parts I'm looking at right now are as follows:

i7-4770k

H100i

asus maximus 6 hero

corsair vengeance pro 16gb

samsung 840 pro 128gb

seagate 4tb

msi geforce gtx 780

corsair 650w atx12v

If you think I'm wasting money on any of these parts and know any cheaper ones that are still reliable please do tell me ^^ or if you know any other way I could save a few bucks that would be awesome!

oh and also just dumb question xD but with that video card can i have 2 monitors? I don't really know much about hardware as you may be able to tell :P

thank you for reading!!!

No, have nothing to complain on. All in all, nice choices.

With a 780 or all gtx 600+ cards you can have 4 monitors, 3 monitors for surround gaming and the 4th for something else like browsing or chatting.

You could get a cheaper mobo and that may save you a couple of bucks, but if you've got the money, go for it.

Nice on all choices, if you want more bang for your buck, go AMD witha 6300 + 270x or 280x.... but unless you love intel I'll down grade to the 4760k and the gtx 770 man, almost preforms as good for about 100 - 175 dollar less

The time you enjoy wasting, is not wasted time.

I would get a slightly less expensive motherboard and get a 250gb evo SSD. You would be really surprised how easy it is to fill a 128gb ssd.

Give me a min and I will try to throw a build together for you in your budget.

@devinclement how does this suit you? You are not giving up any performance here and are pretty well under budget. I even kept your color scheme going.

CPU:  Intel Core i7-4770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($326.98 @ SuperBiiz)
CPU Cooler:  Corsair H105 73.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler  ($89.99 @ NCIX US)
Motherboard:  MSI Z87-GD65 Gaming ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($147.99 @ Newegg)
Storage:  Samsung 840 EVO 250GB 2.5" Solid State Disk  ($149.99 @ NCIX US)
Storage:  Seagate Barracuda 3TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive  ($104.99 @ NCIX US)
Video Card:  MSI GeForce GTX 780 3GB TWIN FROZR Video Card  ($499.99 @ Micro Center)
Case:  Corsair 450D ATX Mid Tower Case  ($119.99 @ Amazon)
Total: $1702.24

Then for kicks I threw this together if you are hell bent on spending $2000. I upped the SSD to 500gb and moved to a 780ti for a bit of extra graphical horsepower. The extra graphics is probably not needed with 1080 but it adds epeen :)

What kind of dollars are you using?

Is a copy of Windows or any peripherals needed?

What scale are the projects you're working on?

The 780 can support 3 displays in surround and 1 more auxiliary display.
