Audio Interface + XLR Mic setup

I've got a Shure SM58 and a UMC22 Audio interface. I've connected both with cables but I can't record any audio when I go into audacity. Is something wrong or am I just VERY stupid?

Im gonna go with #2 🙂 Jk Audio stuff can be complicated and you have to make sure the settings are right. Are you using windows? Under recording devices is the mic listed under Mic in at rear panel PINK or whatever your mic in color is on your board? is it selected as default device?

Make sure your interface is set to mic level, not line level.

 

Your SM58 doesn't need phantom power, so the "+48v" switch should be off.

 

Make sure Audacity is looking at the Behringer for its input instead of your motherboard's mic input.

 

Check the "recording devices" part of the Sound control panel to make sure you're getting levels from the Behringer.

 

If your mic has a switch on the side, make sure it's not switched off.

@Needfuldoeradded quite a fair bit of troubleshooting steps there. I'll just add this screenshot of audacity.

 

This should be one of the most latest versions, just as a visual reference as to where to check your recording device within audacity itself.
