Whas yall opinion on the new 7000 series from AMD

for me the 7900 XTX is a great card. about 4090 lvl but for cheaper

the 7900 xt i feel will not be bought.

I hope they release a 7950 XTX to counter the 4090 ti.

If AMD can pull this off this can decide who leads the gpu market for another one or two generations (when GPUS are the size of a small dinosaur)

P.S. On the topic of gpu sizes its also nice the the new cards from amd are not huge.

My First PC
CPU: Ryzen 5 5600x
Cooler: Asus TUF Gaming LC240
Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix B550-f gaming
RAM: 4x8 GB Corsair Vengeance RS (3200 MHz, CL16)
Storage: 1tb Samsung 980 Pro
Graphics Card: Asus Dual RTX 2060 OC
Case: Deepcool Matrexx 50
Power Supply: Corsair RM650x
Headset: Razer Blackshark V2
Keyboard: Corsair K70 Pro Mini (Speed Silver switches)
Mouse: Razer Viper Mini
Only changes I have made is I sold the 2060 for $235 AUD and bought a Powercolor Red Devil 6700 XT for $400 second hand (it was barely used, think I scored a deal on Ebay with that).

I love Photography (Using a Canon 60D)

Love F1, my favourite team is Ferrari and my favourite driver is Leclerc

We don't really know how much of a distance there is until independent reviews are out. So for now I'll be cautiously optimistic. But then again I'm not in the market for a $1000 GPU, much less a $1600 GPU. I just hope these performance numbers translate to good performance for the more affordable GPUs coming later.

While it would be a win in terms of marketing/image, I don't think they really need or want to. Most people who want AMD to compete in this category actually just want Nvidia to have to lower their prices rather than wanting to buy AMD. Which means competing in this price range would simply translate to a net loss for AMD.

Eh. I'm skeptical. It looked like a lot of the performance information included FSR. It'll be interesting to see how they fare without it.

First of all, the XTX card will not compete with the 4090. It is not a matchup against the 4090, the RTX card is way too powerful and AMD can't touch that kind of performance. The XTX rather sits in the gap between the 4080 and the 4090, since that gap is huge at the moment. The 7900XT is a rival for the 4080.

I don't expect AMD to release a card that will be able to match the 4090 pure in terms of raw performance anytime soon. But they don't have to, 1600USD for a GPU is nuts. All the XTX has to do is come somewhat close to the 4090.

true. I just realised that. I hope they will release a card that counters the 4090. Just so people can't say that Nvidia is still better because there performance is better. Nvidia will eventually fix the issues with there gpus. 'But they don't have to, 1600USD for a GPU is nuts. All the XTX has to do is come somewhat close to the 4090' Thats all true if the xtx is not that much worse in performance I reckon it would be the more popular card.

THere is a lot of overhead on the XTX card. They can literally double the amount of infinity cache, boost the clockspeed, and in terms of power use they have a lot of overhead. The 7950 MIGHT come close to the 4090. But the 4090 also has some overhead, albeit very little seeing how much power it already draws. So I don't think AMD for this gen can come up with a 4090Ti rival. But possibly with the 7950 they might have an alternative for the 4090.

We don't even know how the 7900XTX will perform let alone the 7950XTX.  The 7900XTX is 300mm vs 600+mm for the RTX 4090/4090ti .  What happens if they go to 400mm, 3D cache, increase the clocks and go 450W?  It will be right up there with the 4090ti possibly.

AMD 7950x3D / Gigabyte Aurous Master X670E/ 64GB @ 6000c30 / 3 x 4TB Samsung 990 Pro / 44TB Synology 1522+ / MSI Gaming Trio 4090 / EVGA G6 1000w /Thermaltake View71 / LG C1 48in OLED + MSI 321URX - Moved back to air cooling Phantom Spirit 120 SE.  Server (PLEX) - 155H NUC 64GB  and 60GB Optane drive/ Server (AI) 64GB M4 Max Mac Studio

thats correct. by 300mm and 600mm u mean the size of the card right. If they do do what ur saying that might make them lose there advantge in price. I think AMD have purposely dialled it back a bit so they can cut down the costs of manufacturing them therefore having a cheaper card.
